Issa no for me, sis
When I first saw these sneakers grace the runway last January in the men’s FW17 show, I just knew these would NEVER become a thing. I mean, just look at them…they are a cross between shoes worn by your high school gym instructor and your grandpa but yet they are the most overly anticipated shoe of the season.
In the height of Athleisure, Balenciaga have made quite the impression on the street style community with their bulkiest contribution. The Triple S Trainers can be seen on every foot hitting the streets during fashion week. They have been worn with dresses, suits, sweatpants…basically anything you are brave enough to wear them with. Celebs like Tracee Ellis Ross, Migos, Bella Hadid and more have been spotted sporting these trainers.
Recently, Balenciaga has released three new color ways and also switched manufactures from Italy to China. 👀 The claim is having the shoes produced in China has made them much lighter than the original versions. To me, this is the brand’s way of keeping up with high demand and low production cost but hey, who am I? Rest assure that the current change in factories did not inflate the $850 price tag.
I’m all here for bending the rules and taking fashion risk but I think for me, I’m going to pass on this trend. Besides the fact they will look HUGE on my size 8 foot, I just can’t get over how thick they are. And why would I wanna spend $850 on “dirty” shoes. I’ve seen very few pull off this look but in most cases, I’m like “Issa no for me, sis”.
